This presentation shows how the 3G evolution and LTE can be used to meet the increasing data demand. It combines the concepts and enhancements used both for HSPA+ and EV-DO to enhance performance and shows that evolved 3G can provide similar performance as LTE, which is best suited to leverage new and wider bandwidth to boost the data capacity in dense-urban areas. Furthermore, since all air interfaces are approaching the theoretical limit, the next significant performance leap will come from leveraging topology by bringing the transmitters closer to the user. Advanced topology networks, optimized performance of mixed networks with macro, picos and femtos, is a goal for all major wireless technologies (EV-DO, HSPA+ and LTE).
