Last month, I had the opportunity to attend the Vodafone Foundation and London Business School’s Mobile for Good Summit in London, which focused on the transformative power of mobile technology in communities around the globe. For me, the event solidified the notion that mobile is more than an enabler; it is a multiplier and game changer that cuts across all sectors, including healthcare, education, and entrepreneurship.

Qualcomm Honored for 3G Mobile Vision Project in China

“The doctor told me that soon I will be able to see without my glasses!” said one of the children participating in the Mobile Vision Project who has amblyopia. Sometimes called “lazy eye,” amblyopia is the most common cause of vision impairment in childhood. Detected early, amblyopia is treatable. Left untreated, however, it can cause lifelong disability.

Today Qualcomm’s partners began receiving samples of our third generation Qualcomm Gobi LTE chips – our latest and greatest cellular modems. The MDM9225 and MDM9625 will be the first chips to contain new LTE and HSPA+ modems, which are faster and use less power than their predecessors.
