I recently came across a blog post and photos on the Wireless Access for Health project (WAH) by the Center for Health Market Innovations. I have always been fascinated by the benefits that wireless connectivity can bring to underserved communities, particular in the area of e-health, and this project is really something extraordinary.
As you all know, Qualcomm is committed to helping companies in the medical device, pharmaceutical and health service industries to innovate new connected mobile health solutions and business models. For years we have been working to build a global industry ecosystem to accelerate the convergence of wireless and health care, and to promote the many benefits that wireless health affords consumers, physicians, and the broken health care system as a whole.
Recently, on behalf of Wireless Reach, I had the opportunity to announce the results of our first project in the Middle East – the Egypt Teledermatology Pilot Project – which serves as an example of how mobile devices can provide a viable medical solution for Egypt’s health care system.
