As the students of UC Berkeley converged back on campus this semester (Spring 2011), a new course taught by Tom McKeag titled, "How Would Nature Do That?" appeared in their elective offerings from the College of Natural Resources. The course is focused on biomimicry, the study of nature to find solutions that are typically both more resource efficient and environmentally sustainable than standard solutions.
After returning from Barcelona, I have been able to give more thought to the different smartphones that were announced and exhibited at the show. And while the Nokia and Microsoft announcement on the Friday prior to the show seemed to steal some of the headlines, there was no shortage of new launches at the event.
The EOBR mandate appears like it is going to happen. The FMCSA has already issued a proposed rulemaking. Congress has introduced legislation to force FMCSA to act on timely basis if it does not on its own.
It was an exciting week in San Francisco at the 2011 Game Developers Conference. Mobile gaming has truly never looked so good with new, gaming-focused smartphones such as Sony Ericsson’s XperiaTM PLAY and larger screen tablets such as HP’s new TouchPad .
