It Keeps Going and Going...

Remember those Energizer commercials with the bunny playing the drums? Wouldn’t it be great if you didn’t have to keep worrying about your mobile device running out of battery at some point during the day? It sure would be. Battery life is still the number one requested feature in smartphone purchase decisions.

However, as smartphones and tablets provide better and better experiences with each new generation, maintaining long battery life has become more challenging. Delivering these experiences on the stunning, high resolution screens of mobile devices require a lot of compute horsepower. Meeting this increased horsepower demand without draining the battery is the challenge for system-on-a-chip (SoC) vendors.

Qualcomm Technologies is meeting—even exceeding—this challenge by designing power and thermal efficient SoCs that deliver the performance consumers want while still providing long battery life. You may be asking yourself “what is it that Qualcomm Technologies does that is so special and differentiates them from the rest?”

Short answer: Qualcomm Technologies takes a holistic system approach, which is best achieved by custom designing the key technology blocks and smartly integrating the entire SoC. Qualcomm Technologies optimizes across the entire system for thermal and power efficiency at four distinct levels.

To find out the longer answer, please read a recently published white paper entitled: Designing Mobile Devices for Low Power and Thermal Efficiency. It provides deeper insight into how Qualcomm Technologies delivers the optimal balance of power and thermal efficiency in SoCs, enabling mobile devices to deliver the best user experience.
