Mobile Healthcare is Here.

It’s a watershed week for Qualcomm Life in Europe and I can’t think of a better time to introduce myself to you all.

My name is Laurent Vandebrouck and I will be overseeing Qualcomm Life’s business and operations in Europe.  Although my role at Qualcomm Life is fairly new, I am a Qualcomm veteran, having spent seven years leading various Company initiatives throughout Europe. I cannot tell you how excited I am to be working at Qualcomm again, and on such a personal, important and timely topic for us all: mobile health.

I think my colleague, Don Jones, said it perfectly last week: “The pieces are now in place for mHealth to take off in Europe.” Check out the mHealth infographic at the bottom of Don’s blog depicting the current state of eHealth in Europe to see what we’re talking about.

This morning we announced the commercial launch of our 2net Platform and Hub in Europe, as well as our first European customers Telbios and Cystelcom. Telbios is a leading service provider of remote health monitoring solutions for chronic care and disease management in Italy. Our 2net Platform will enable Telbios to treat more patients effectively in Italy. Cystelcom, an engineering software development company has formed the newly created mHealthAlert, offering an open remote monitoring platform for chronic disease patients to reduce re-admissions and the length of hospital stays. mHealthAlert will leverage the 2net Hub and Platform to provide added ease of use for patient populations such as the elderly and chronically ill patients in the territory of Spain.

The team has quite a busy week ahead of it, hopping around the continent to spread the word about the availability of the 2net service offering and, more importantly, to hear from the healthcare industry on how we can help solve their challenges with wireless technology implementation.

Our first stop is the International Telecare & Telehealth Conference (TSA) being held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel from November 12-14. Qualcomm Life is showcasing the 2net Platform at stand #24 and also participating in the Self Care Zone. From Birmingham we head over to Medica 2012, taking place November 14 – 17 in Dusseldorf, Germany. We’ll be exhibiting in the Wireless Health Pavilion in Booth #E04 in Hall #15 with our 2net Ecosystem collaborators including Telbios, Dexcom, Nonin, A&D, Preventice and more! If you’re attending either show, please pop by for a chat and live demo.

We will also be live-tweeting from these conferences throughout the week, and encourage you to join in on the conversation by following @QualcommLife on Twitter or visiting www.qualcommlife.eu.
