Featured Projects
Our researchers engage in a wide variety of exciting and technically challenging projects. Each project pushes the envelope of what is possible today paving the way for the products of tomorrow. Explore a project, learn what it’s about, follow its progress, and imagine the possibilities. There are even a few "stealth projects" we cannot talk about, but are even more exciting.
-
Long Term Evolution
Long Term Evolution or LTE is a highly optimized and flexible mobile broadband OFDMA system that leverages new and wider bandwidth up to 20 MHz. It complements existing 3G networks, with well defined handover procedures between LTE and 3G.
-
HD VoIP
The HD VoIP team has been working to enable end-to-end high fidelity voice communication for both wireless and enterprise applications by unifying technologies such as VoIP, wideband vocoders, advanced noise cancelling and wireless interoperability with the enterprise domain.
-
3G Venue Cast
The 3G Venue Cast team at the Qualcomm Research Center (QRC) is developing technology that enables a multi-dimensional experience at various venues such as sporting events, theme parks, university campuses, etc. by providing additional and localized content to mobile devices.
-
EV-DO
The EV-DO program within the Qualcomm Research Center (QRC) has been involved in the standardization of every revision of the air interface, in addition to the research and development of implementation techniques that improve the performance and value of commercial EV-DO systems.
-
HSPA+
The HSPA+ program is focused on research into technologies that improve the performance of UMTS, a widely deployed 3G standard specified by 3GPP.
-
1x Advanced
The1x Advanced program is developing technologies for the next step in the evolution of CDMA2000 1x.
-
Femtocells
The femtocell systems engineering program is focused on addressing interference management and self configuration of customer-deployed femtocells. Femtocells represent the next frontier in the evolution of cellular systems.
