Why HD Voice?

HD Voice is a major part of operators’ initiatives while transitioning from 2G/3G to 4G LTE networks. HD Voice has been the focal point in Sprint's Network Vision network upgrade and the first device to support it is the HTC Evo 4G LTE. Qualcomm’s HD Voice technology provides a superior voice call experience to the end-users while fulfilling the operators’ constrained network requirements. Operators need to secure their voice revenues by providing the same voice services as their legacy circuit-switched networks to their upcoming packet-switched IP-based networks. With Qualcomm Snapdragon chips operators can introduce novel rich call platforms to their subscribers while taking full advantage of LTE innovation in new multimedia services.  Snapdragon will introduce combined HD Voice packages to address both the standard and customized speech codec technologies as well as its fully optimized and well-integrated associated front-end audio enhancement modules.

Key messages:

  • HD Voice adds additional clarity to conference calls with improved speech recognition accuracy rates.
  • HD Voice provides the highest quality user call experience currently available.
  • Qualcomm HD Voice consists of multiple technologies including FluenceTM, Active Noise Cancellation, and Advanced Speech Codecs.
  • True wideband speech codec technologies which can help to lower the operators’ overall capital expenditures by reducing unnecessary transcoding between mobile to mobile calls.
