What I like best about my job is the variety of projects I work on and the variety of tasks that I do. A hardware designer can do design work, verification work, you see the silicon come back and can do testing on it and you can see it in action — in real products.”

“I am a software engineer. I work on the BREW distribution system which allows customers to provide games, ringtones and other BREW-based applications to cell phone users. The best part of my job is when we have our big BREW conferences. That’s when I get to hear Disney, Verizon and some of our other worldwide customers talk about how they use our products and how our products benefit them. I love knowing that the things I work on are widely used.”

“I’m technical lead on a team that’s developing a system which will enable operators to see how cell phones are performing throughout their networks. I lead the web server section of this project, and I’m responsible for the overall architecture of the software. What I like best about my job is the variety of work that I get. I’ve been able to work with a lot of different systems and architectures, I’ve had several exciting opportunities to work on patents and I keep learning new things about wireless technology. I love this field. It’s very cutting edge.”

This is particularly true with our design teams. These are huge teams of people who crank out new designs and need immediate feedback. “I’m a systems engineer, and I’m part of a team that designs and develops multimedia applications based on IP technologies. We solve some pretty challenging problems which haven’t been done before, and we have a lot of opportunities to be creative. This is a very exciting group. Everyone is very knowledgeable in this field, and we all bounce off each other for ideas and support. We are excited about what we do. Everyone is motivated to develop products which consumers will use.”
