In addition, many of the European corporate functions are centred in London, including Human Resources, Finance and Administration as well as the regional President. Qualcomm U.K. Ltd. in Farnborough, plays a pivotal role as an engineering design center for Qualcomm's CDMA Technologies (QCT) division. As the foremost innovator of CDMA technology, Qualcomm is leading the way in next-generation solutions. QCT's prime focus for projects in the U.K. is WCDMA and GPRS , two of the exciting technologies enabling true mobile multimedia applications.
Qualcomm U.K. Ltd. in Cambridge specialises in technologies, tools and design for mobile user interface (UI) with engineering and design teams working on embedded mobile handset and server-side technologies. The handset engineering group is playing a key role in the development of Qualcomm’s BREW Mobile Platform, with a particular emphasis on the platform’s UI technologies, including XML and Flash; the server-side engineering group is working on advanced services frameworks to support new data service offerings. Supporting the strong emphasis on user experience, the Cambridge office also has a group of visual and interaction designers working on advanced mobile and web-based user interfaces, a usability lab for testing UI designs, and a research team focusing on the needs of the end-user.
Qualcomm Poole Ltd. is a centre of excellence for the development of complex Internet and mobile platforms that are used worldwide by major mobile operators and media companies to manage, deliver and market premium content and services to mass consumer markets. The centre, which is part of Qualcomm’s Internet Service Division, is home to a multi-disciplinary research, engineering and product management team that delivers cutting edge technologies that are deployed by an in-house professional service group in the form of comprehensive and targeted solutions.
